Food packaging regulations

Inhoudsopgave

In the Netherlands, there are not only strict requirements for nutrition. Strict regulations also apply to the packaging of loose food products. In this article you will read about the rules for food packaging. In addition, we go over what information you are required to include on packaging and how to easily use safe packaging.

Shelf life and quality

When loose food products are not properly packaged and stored, the food spoils. In addition, the material around it, should not affect the taste and safety of the food.

Maintaining the quality of products

How does food stay fresh and keep longer? Food packaging preserves the quality of fresh produce. And by packaging it properly (vacuum), it can prolong the freshness of food. These requirements are often imposed by the logistics department who do not always get products to consumers quickly.A longer shelf life is also requested by consumers, to prevent food from having to be thrown away quickly. Of course, the producer himself may have this desire because a higher-quality product increases the market for the product.
